BREAKING NEWS:
1 With the fall in international oil prices, there is a chance that competition within air traffic may cause air travel prices to fall. We give you some ideas below for you to check out.

2   ECONOMIC FLIGHTS FROM the UK: Try Virgin Atlantic out of Manchester to Orlando (MCO). Then Bahamas Air to Nassau (NAS) but you have to over night in Nassau. Suggest Orange Hill Hotel. Then Bahamas Air or Sky Bahamas to George Town (GGT) or American Airlines MCO/MIA/GGT. Less than $1000 round trip for travel only.

Another lower price option: Air Canada on Sundays and some times Thursdays, C$231 Toronto Pearson YYZ to George Town GGT direct for round trip. Note, you have to request the Tango fare. LHR/YYZ C$380  round trip with British Airways and Sky Bahamas NAS to GGT $ 185. Prices fluctuate.

From Miami take the AA Eagle, Ft Lauderdale Silver Airways, Atlanta Delta all having direct flights to George Town(GGT).
Norwegian is offering flights London to New York GBP 149 from  July 2014. - maybe that is only one way??

3. We have access to a private deserted island with a sand beach, within a cute bay and excellent snorkeling on the South Western end, only a mile from the cottage. Aerial picture included with our photographs. Ask Sharon for details, no landing charges. The only regular inhabitant is the Osprey who have young every year. You can ferry yourself to the island in our 15'0' Boston Whaler, paddle the kayaks across or walk at low tide. A Haitian sail boat was washed up on the northern beach.

4. Payment by Paypal is there for your use if you wish. Your will not  pay a "Service Fee" with us.

Toward the end of 2017 most companies marketting holiday homes started to charge between 5 - 12% on the rental cost for a "Service Fee"

5. When you have made payment, email us to this effect. When we acknowledge we will adjusted the availability calendar and you are "booked".

There will be no gritty sand in the house as we have a smooth rock bathing area with access ladder and freshwater shower as you exit the sea.
Tours to see the swimming pigs and the like can be arranged via

Great news: Sharon has purchased some Brand new Liker Kayaks.  A sit on fisherman sport kayak and two paddle boards, yes made in China, with all sorts of bells and whistles. They have been obtained with the bone fishermen in mind. These will be complete with trolly to launch and retrieve them each night.

Quiet location away from the noise of Town, airport race tracks and the like.

Internet: is installed in the Boat House and is operated by the Bahamas Telecommunications Company. this installation was made in 2012.  However, it is provided at the behest of the server. We are on an island in the Atlantic Ocean and although we have the facility, paid all the fees etc. sometimes it may be temporarily, beyond our control, inoperative. Under these circumstances we request your cooperation.

Bone fishing: the accommodation is opposite 2 x 8 miles of, the best in the world, Bone-fishing flats...so we are told. It's a Bone-fisherman's delight. All facilities for DIY fishing but bring your own gear. Be advised that a Sport Fishing licence is required and can be obtained at the Administrator's Office during working hours.
Tours: One of the favourite tours requested is to the swimming pigs. Try Aquadisiac Adventures 1242 524 8773 and ask for Edmond recommended by Nikie.
Ask if their boat is insured for passengers at whichever tour company you decide to use.

The Beach House: we have separate accommodation for 4 adults, located on the same site. It can also be viewed from findamericanrentals.com ID 99510. It may be that this unit, on some peak occasions, has occupants at the same time as your booking at the Boat House. Please ask Sharon before you book for more detail.

Bone Fishermen: DIY Bone-fishing is practiced here, though professional Guides are available, we will be pleased to introduce you to reliable people. For a fishing guide try Martin 1242 477 6251. Bone-fishing is a sport/pass-time enjoyed right on our doorstep. Fishermen who have stayed with us claim that at our location Bone-fishing here is the best of its kind in the world. They get up early, Kayak out to the shallow banks no more than 50 yards (meters) from our dock. As with most fishermen they put them back into the water after a catch and photograph but it has been known for one or two to be brought home for lunch. Very tasty too I'm told.

Rod Hamilton the DIY bonefisherman of some acclaim who has a book on sale at Amazon has also been kind enough to recommend our residences to his fishing colleagues and has stayed with us on several occasions.

Sharon's Island: Only a mile away, you can sail, kayak, walk or swim to it. Once there you will be exposed to an uninhabited island save for the Osprey nesting on the south east corner. Next is the sandy cove, a cute little protected bay. Then on the south west side there are colourful fish to be seen while snorkeling, better than "Thunderball Cave" so we are told. The north side is shallow water usually used by the bonefishermen.

Kayaks and Sunfish: We have a sunfish sailing dinghy, A tandem Kayak a Sport fisherman Kayak and 3 Paddle boards. They can be used to better explore the water ways and land routes of the island.

A scooter can be rented in town. $40/day

Sailing Sunfish: Sailing on the clear blue warm waters of the Bahamas is exhilarating and yet relaxing for those coming from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is good to be competitive with neighbours and their Sunfish. We now have six Sunfish owners on our strip and are in the process of  forming a Sailing Club. We even offer to learners free instruction to sail.

Boston Whaler: We can arrange for you to have the use of a boat with outboard motor on the south side of the island by our visitors only. Please ask Sharon on arrival for details. The cost to use is $250/day, minimum 2 consecutive days, deposit $200 for any number of 24 hour days. However we can offer a discounted price of $175/day for 7 consecutive days.

Transportation: We have the use of a car, which we loan to our visitors who stay with us, on a "you bend it you mend it" basis. There are two, they are old but with TLC they serve their purpose and the cost to use is $60/day for the Hyundai Swift or $70/day for the Toyota Surf with roof rack and tow bar. In the event you elect to hire a vehicle from the Airport we will arrange to meet you in town on your first day.

Precautions: Visitors must be mindful that anywhere in the tropics there will be nasty insects around. On Exuma the most prolific are the mosquito and the 'no-see-ums'. Both of these can give you, nice fresh meat, a nasty bite, that is all BUT there is no need for this to happen if you take precautions.

First, they usually come out an hour before and after sunrise and sunset. Then, they cannot withstand a strong breeze and all the windows and external doors have fly screens. During the day, especially with children in the family in and out all the time these insects will get inside the house. You will be well advised to obtain a fly spray available at most grocers in order to spray the interior of the house before you retire. Not much is needed just a quick squirt in each corner of the room should be sufficient. Let us know if you are inconvenienced more than this.

Finally, when you arrive at the Immigration counter at the airport: Say to the Officer, you are staying with 'Sharon Wright', most of them know me, at 007 Sea Breeze Drive Bahama Sound 11 West.

One other note: After clearing Customs the Taxi Drivers will greet you at the door. Say to them you are staying with Sharon. They will tell you where we are waiting for you. Look for John with the orange cap.

Amazing like a Robinson Holiday

Back to Paris, FRANCE. A fantastic find for this house right on the shore. All the confort I needed for my self, being alone in that house to work at night under the stars (I have to stay connected to my work in France, 6 hours ahead) with a nice little breeze (no need for AC). John was a perfect host, got me at the airport and explained everything about the Exumas, toured around right away. I would swim early morning right away from the dock! The service and attention from John was great with him bringing me a delicious papaya and showing me to pick gava fruits right from the tree on the property and basil leaves also (what a strong and delicious scent all over!). I met Sharon on my last day and is looking forward to know more this very nice person. Very nice flight from Miami and the arrival thanks to the advice of John was amazing overlooking the Exumas. The weather was perfect. Short trip, no time to visit the private island, too bad. John shared with me his deep knowledge of the Exumas, going as far as touring with me all over the place because I decided to find a place here, lot or house to spend retirement in a few years! Thanks again to him.

Exceeded our expectations! Charm & well priced!

My husband and I were being budget conscious, but had high expectations for privacy, R & R and ease. We loved our 9 days at the boat house and will definitely return. The little cement home (maybe 400 sq. ft) is all you need if simple is OK for you as a couple; bathroom, little kitchen, TV and open windows that bring in the cool ocean breeze. It\'s clean and private. The house sits adjacent to the bigger and more substantial 2 bedroom rental-but for us, it sat unused, so we had all the privacy we wanted. Fresh Papaya and guava, a little cove with kayaks and a sailboat and a beautiful view of the South Side of the island (the bone fish flats) was ideal for us to spend time daily on the water. The owners, Sharon and John are gracious and authentic islanders who over-delivered on everything for us. We rented their little car for the week (this is a must), used their kayaks, boats and even rented their whaler for a day. John round tripped us from the airport and showed us around so we had a sense of things. The island is simple and felt happy, safe and not too touristy. Don\'t miss Santana\'s past the cut and at the end of the island. Fresh lobster, fish and great drinks in a little shack overlooking where Pirates of the Carribean was filmed. Some quirky stuff to know about-like markets close at 6pm and you won\'t find anything open on Sundays except for the BBQ at Chat n Chill island which is on the North Side and you get there from taxi or boat rental....not to be missed. A few resorts have live music if that\'s your thing-but still quiet and simple All in all, great snorkeling, easy living and much better than a hotel or noisy condo somewhere in town. Thanks John and Sharon. We had a great time!

A charming and romantic place

The boat house was a the best place to have a romantic week of holidays. Just in the front of water, you woke up admiring the landscape before taking a morning bath in the sea. We also really enjoyed using the kayaks and the Sharon\'s island John and Sharon were very helpful with providing us all needed practical and touristic information before and during our week. John picked us up from the airport and take us for a tour in the main practical points of interest, and then pick us up back to the airport (despite of the very early time of our flight!). John was helpful during our week. The only inconvenience we experienced were the mosquitoes (and even more the small flying insects which I don\'t remember the name), despite of the precautions and the boat\'s fly screens. Perhaps, this was the result of traveling during the rainy season (September)! By the way, no mosquitoes avoided us having the greatest holidays, and enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the Exumas!

The Boat House

Our stay at the boat house was brief but very enjoyable. John was very help full and very informative. The car they loaned us was great. We will be visiting again in January. Special thanks to John for all of his local knowledge.
