Cleaning Fee $40
Las Rocas was amazing!! My family stayed for a week...not long enough! Booking was easy and safe. This property is perfectly located. Very secluded, yet close enough to Montezuma and other towns to get supplies, go out to eat/drink, etc. The house was very clean and well stocked with linens, etc. The property manager, Leeanne, was friendly and super helpful. She is very familiar with the roads, local businesses, etc. She was very accessible by phone or/and email and addressed our needs/questions in a very timely manner. We can\'t wait to return to Las Rocas....next time we will stay longer!!!
We were excited to find this property and were even more impressed when we arrived. Warmly greeted by Leanne, upon arriving in Montezuma, we were shown around the town and then to the property near by. Beyond the delightful accommodations, the property has it\'s own private beach and tide pools, as well as various quiet places to melt into a hammock with the ocean steps away. Several times we walked from this property on quiet roads to one of the best bathing beaches I\'ve experienced (5 minutes if you walk slowly). On other excursions we walked to a waterfall and hiked up into an area with exotic birds and other wildlife, an easy 10 minute walk away. Having two wildlife biologists with us we chose walking places like Cabuya, a tiny town nearby, so to see the many varieties of birds (and monkeys). And, sunrise! Wow!! I got up every morning to watch that amazing show. So, if you like the beauty of nature and you really want a treat, this is it.
We spent two weeks in this fantastic house and are already talking about returning. It is like living in a tree house, very open and comfortable with the constant sound of the ocean and occasional howler monkeys - otherwise very quiet and peaceful. There were three days when we never left the property except to buy fish from a place down the road. The tide pools in front of the house are amazing and change with every tide. Since we have rejoined the real world, we only need to look at our photos to bring back at least part of the totally relaxing, happy aura of Las Rocas. Leanne and Ron are terrific caretakers and sources of information and assistance, but never intrusive...ask them about the gin bottle!
This property is the perfect oceanfront retreat, yet easily accessible to the wonderful village of Montezuma. The compound is large and private, the monkeys and iguanas provide endless jungle entertainment. The evenings are so simple and magical, listening to the waves, enjoying quiet time with friends or family on the terrace, and watching awe inspiring tropical storms from the terrace or upstairs bedroom. It is a place to get back in touch with nature, and yourself. It has a well equipped kitchen and games, cards etc. which we enjoyed together in the evenings. We highly recommend the restaurant called \"Cocolores\" in Montezuma. The Italian cuisine was the very best I\'ve encountered and rivals anything I\'ve had in Florence, Rome or Naples! We brought several of their entrees and side dishes home each eve to enjoy on the peaceful terrace here at Las Rocas. The owners, Tad and Jana were very helpful, as was the property manager, Leanne and her husband, providing lots of information about the local area, the beaches and good hikes. We loved the canopy zip line over Montezuma Waterfalls. If you are looking for a magical, natural setting, and enjoy privacy, ocean, and simplicity, this is your place.
We stayed with our two teenagers at Las Rocas for four nights in March 2018 and had a fabulous time. We much prefer staying in a house rather than a hotel amidst all the hustle and bustle. This is a great place for nature lovers, right on the beach, with great rock pools, a sand beach, iguanas and squirrels in the trees. If you don\'t see capuchin and howler monkeys on the property, you will see them with a short walk. You can hike up to nearby waterfalls. We walked in the water and enjoyed being \"cleaned\" by freshwater shrimp (they look a lot like crayfish), some of them electric blue. A real treat was the bare-throated tiger-heron that perched in a tree out back, along with a yellow-headed caracara. Close by is the Cabo Blanco preserve with its many kilometers of trails, where we saw a tamandua (an anteater), agouti, squirrels, white-tailed deer with fawn, coati, howler and capuchin monkeys, and dozens of species of birds. Montezuma has decent restaurants; we ate at nearby Las Palmeras twice and recommend it. Even when it\'s hot you can stay relatively cool by using the ceiling and floor fans or by lying in one of several hammocks outside. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We had a wonderful time at this property. The owner was communicative and the property manager was very accessible, warm and helpful. The property is gorgeous. You can hear and see the ocean wherever you are. The trees are wonderful and provide shade (and monkeys). The entire property is well attended to and it is an easy walk to Montezuma. The sunrises are spectacular and as we were there to shoot yoga photos, were absolutely a perfect backdrop and the best way to begin the day. We feel so blessed to have found this location and hope to stay here again on our next trip to Costa Rica.
