Great house for visiting Needles and Monument Valley. Blanding has needed services. House has many great touches. Quiet and offers great star gazing. Only gripe was flies.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days at the Cedars 3BR Country Cottage this past weekend. We loved how secluded it was, except for the constant visits from deer, wild turkeys, cottontails, and of course Nala. We also saw a black and white cat that came to check on us one evening. It was a delight. The property is clean, eco-friendly, and well furnished. We spent most of our time around the kitchen table each evening, reviewing our adventures of that day and planning the next. We really appreciated the little extras found around the cabin, like hand lotion, soaps, etc. This is our second property we have rented from Canyonlands, and they are always clean and well taken care of. We appreciate the details on how things work, what is expected at check-out, and a place to leave comments. We\'ll be back! Thanks for maintaining such a wonderful cabin, and thanks to the Lyman\'s. Cedars Cabin in Blanding was very nice for our 5 night archeology tour of SE Utah with friends. Having a master suite on ground floor and 2 bdrms and bath upstairs was great for privacy and 4 adults. The cabin had EVERTHING you would need. Took my own laundry detergent and dish soap but didn\'t need it. They had well stocked kitchen including plastic containers and ziploc bags in 3 sizes. We liked sitting out by the fire 2 nights - it was full moon - so didn\'t need the big light on the porch that never goes off. Reasons for 4 star: Found a breaker to shut off after calling owner. The nights were cool and we were blasted by cold air coming thru the swamp cooler. Had to tape over the vents with trash bags and put a blanket on it to stop. The drain in the master suite is very slow and you end up standing in your shower water 3 inches deep. Not sure we liked L/R being upstairs, hard for some. Would still highly recommend staying here and would come again.
Nice little 3 bedroom Cedars cottage. Although one of the rooms has a childs bunk bed in there, it still was sufficient. Kitchen has everything you need and the location is nicely situated for easy access to CanyonLands, Natural Bridges and Bears Ears. I\'m sure there are more sights to see around there but we only had so much time. The only negative is that after anyone took a shower the leach field/septic tank area outside stank to high heaven. It went away but boy that was not pleasant for a bit while sitting outside by the fire. It just might need to be emptied. Other than the brief odor bomb, the cabin is a great base camp at a modest price. Response: We have had two comments about the septic odor and have had the County health inspector certify that the system is in order. He made one suggestion in hopes of alleviating this recent problem which we will act on immediately. Thank you for your stay!
We used this house for 4 days of exploring Bears Ears, Grand Gulch, Hovenweep, Natural Bridges, Valley of the Gods and Monument Valley. The drives are long but scenic. The cedars house was perfect for our group of 8. The kitchen is well appointed and we had a full Thanksgiving feast. There are comfortable beds, wifi, hi-def TV\'s, and a fire pit with benches, wood, roasting sticks and priceless dark sky views. It is situated on a hill outside of town with expansive vistas including nearby Abajo and distant Sleeping Ute mountains. Morning jogs to the reservoir were quiet and peaceful.
