It is the 2nd time we are going to Villa Optima and we love it. The location is incredible, you only have to cross the road and you are at the cove, as we have small children this is precious to us as we only take towels / sand toys and whenever they are tired / hungry / need to be changed, we just go back to the house in a minute. The house is very convenient, two double bedrooms and one room with two large single beds, a living room / kitchen with couches, wifi. There is a bathtub in one of the bathroom (3 bathrooms in total), and both beach and house towels are provided in everyone of them, they are large and of nice quality. Fridge is spacious, with separate freezer, oven works great (gas oven with burners). Monica the cook and helper is very good, helpful, understands your needs and adapts very well. She baby sitted our kids twice so that we could go and have dinner at Jakes and it went really well. Paolo and Tia Maria the owners are very helpful, very welcoming, they will surprise you with homemade bread which is a delight. They can shop your shopping list ahead so that the fridge / pantry is full when you come in (I prefer to do my own shopping to be sure to get everything I want, e.g. if we want to have strawberries, not always easy to find everywhere / anywhen, and for baby food I like to bring my food processor to be on the safe side but the house works great for families in my opinion).
The owner Paola was very accommodating, even going so far to bake delicious bites for our family several times during our stay. The house was perfect for our use with 3 full bedrooms, with air-conditioning and private bathrooms, all across from the beach. Many private beaches were within easy walking distance for those seeking variety. There was none of the pressured sales solicitations encountered at the usual tourist destinations. I would recommend this location to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of Negril, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and experience real Jamaica.
We were 6 adults and kids and stayed 2 nights. The house is very spatial, with nice terraces, lots of space. Beach is just across the road. It is very quiet, no cars noise. Perfect for big families or groups of friends. But lots of mosquitos, come prepared!
We just returned from the most wonderful vacation at Villa Optima. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made a fantastic choice. The villa is well laid out, nicely appointed with a beautiful porch with dining area where we ate all the delicious breakfasts and dinners prepared by Monica. She thoroughly impressed my son with her creative vegan meals. Monica was also very helpful in arranging excursions and even a bonfire on the beach (not to be missed). It is a quiet area, safe and we swam every night in the ocean. Be sure to go to YS Falls, Bamboo Ave., Appleton Rum Factory tour, Black River to see the crocodiles and if you like snorkelling Sunny Island is very good and the Pelican Bar is a must see (with dolphin spotting on the way). We travelled with our son (22), daughter (26) and her fiancee and we all agreed it was the best vacation ever! It is a different experience altogether from the usual all inclusive resorts we have been to many times before. The region is a farming and fishing community and the locals and other tourists were friendly and helpful. You can walk to Jack Spratts if you want to go out for dinner, their pizza is very good. We are so very glad we got to see the real Jamaica! Thank you to owners Paolo and Tia for providing such a wonderful place. We will be back!!!
Our family group of 4 adults and 2 children had a lovely, relaxing week between Christmas and New Year\'s at Villa Optima. The house was very comfortable, and we loved the shady veranda and pool. The beach is beautiful and convenient (but use caution when the wind and waves are up). Best part: delicious meals cooked and served with humor and grace by Monica and Trudy, who were helpful in so many ways. We truly felt pampered and indulged.
