Very friendly and helpfull landlord, great kitchen facilities, amazingly good selection in the larger supermarkets, you have to get used to a bit of the nature sounds (wind, sea noise, tree frogs) ... Within walking distance a great restaurant with French cuisine (Le Bistro ), great holiday and very recommendable house!
Three words: WOW, WOW, WOW!! What a tremendous find! This home is simply gorgeous. (The pictures don\'t do it justice.) It\'s a wonderfully spacious (~2100 sq. ft.) secure enclave with a giant 2nd floor master bedroom and master bath. A lovely and roomy downstairs bedroom and bath. GORGEOUS living room. HUGE, fully appointed modern kitchen with virtually everything (pots, pans, knives, etc.) even a picky cook could need. AND it\'s got a beautiful and private backyard that leads down to a large patio/deck (with exterior shower) that is no more than 10 feet from the ocean and a panoramic view. We spent a fair amount of time exploring the \"Best Snorkeling Beaches\" on Antigua that were *highly recommended* on the web, BUT were shocked to happily find that the clearest and BEST snorkeling was actually right out the gate from the property into the ocean. (Yes, you\'re THAT close to the ocean.) This property is a TREASURE. You WILL feel pampered staying there, I assure you.
We had an enjoyable 3 nights here in early April. The air conditioning was not even needed due to ceiling fans in the main bedroom and the ocean breeze. A very well appointed kitchen would have made cooking easy, but we kept it simple and just brought in a few groceries. There were multiple chairs to choose from when outside enjoying the ocean waves breaking just below the deck. The shade provided by palm trees and the building design was also appreciated in the warmer part of the afternoon. It is a lovely home - and we would return happily if our travels bring us back to Antigua.
This is truely an awesome place. A quaint little beach cottage located on the northwest side of the island. Upon arrival we were met at the airport and taken to the property. The house is well equipped, everything you can think of for a beach house including fishing poles for those who like fishing. The owner provided an island map and listing of restaurants, grocery stores, rental cars, cabs, etc. The house, \"The Twigg Cottage\" is really a little piece of heaven by the beach. If you are looking for the beach then this is it. Not only do you have a deck to soak up some rays you have your own private little beach. We spent a lot of evenings having dinner on the deck and watching the sun set. You have the option of sleeping enjoying the ocean breeze or AC. If you are looking for a place to disconnect from the hussle and bussel of the daily grind, this is the perfect vacation spot. We are definitely returning to this little hidden gem.
The outside area was perfect to enjoy the water and weather. We could sit outside, even in the heat of the day, since there was a covered porch. Sunrise and sunset could both be viewed from from the deck. The owner was easily accessible. Antigua has beautiful beaches. We tried to avoid St. John as much as possible because of traffic.
This was our third time staying at this little piece of heaven. A great vacation spot.
