Located on a private waterfront acre, Sea Haven is a traditional West Indian house dressed in a miracle of colour. Periwinkle blue exterior, sunshine yellow inside, with a barrel vaulted blue sky ceiling and yet more sea to view on a trompe loeil wall. Antiques include a 200 year old twig rocker made by slaves, and tortoise-back mahogany dining chairs which came from Admiralty House in Port Royal and were used by Admiral Lord Rodney, and Lord Horatio Nelson when he was an ensign. Four comfortable air conditioned bedrooms with baths en suite. Free high speed wireless internet. The living room opens wide to the 60' foot verandah, which is a feast of pickled wicker, draping vines, and more colour. Barbecue, hammock, gazebo, kayaks, snorkeling gear. The best cook on the 'strip'!
A bird 'feeding tree' frames the view and dapples the gazebo, and in the afternoon, the plunge pool. On one side of the waterfront is a built-up sandy area, and on the other cut-stone steps lead you to perfect snorkeling and the off shore raft. The butler is the chef and will serve you in the dining room, on the verandah, or 'al fresco' by sunlight or by candlelight, according to your whim. Pluck a naseberry, sweetsop, Mugulba mango or Julie from a tree and surrender to the pink warm glow of the sunset across the azure bay.
Less than an hour from montego bay's airport, discovery bay is absolutely unique, an incredibly clear, blue, beautiful and placid body of water, a perfect sheltered horseshoe bay, one mile across, protected by coral reefs.
This strip of houses on the eastern shore is colloquially known as both millionaires row and 'Jamaicas riviera'. It is now the villa destination of choice in Jamaica and although many owners try to take advantage of our popularity by listing nearby (or distant) homes, there is only one Fortlands road, only ONE Discovery Bay.

Our group of seven had six days of perfect relaxation, beautiful views, and the best food imaginable. The staff was wonderful, the meals delicious and we were able to sample all the local dishes. The bedrooms were spacious, air conditioned and provided the perfect nights sleep. Waking up to overlook the waters was one of the best experiences. The house is spacious, living room great for hanging out at night. We loved the huge wrap around veranda for the meals. The driver, Naval, met us at the airport and was available to some day trips we planned. The house staff were friendly, loved to explain their local customs and provided everything we needed. We loved that the fisherman would row to the house at the end of the day with their catches, red snapper channel crabs and lobsters! I would highly recommend Sea Haven for a perfect vacation spot. Thank you Erica.
As a frequent visitor to Jamaica, I have stayed in several villas in St. Ann. Sea Haven was by far the most convenient, excellent, and recommended villa I have ever stayed in. Everything you need is right there for you. The staff is beyond excellent courteous and professional. Ms. Elva who is the chef prepares meals that are simply delicious, from authentic Jamaican cuisine to anything you heart desires, and everything she makes with her magical hands will leave you wanting more. The grocery store has an account setup with the villa, so you can order all your groceries ahead of time, and additional groceries can be delivered during your stay. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable, for instance, I have an allergy to gluten and I let them know ahead of time, so Ms. Elva was prepared to make all meals gluten free, and even went the extra step to buy gluten free flour and other ingredients so that I can enjoy foods that I have not eaten in a long time, and longed for. This was indeed a very special touch. The villa itself is equipped with everything from DVDs, snorkeling gear, beach towels, housekeeping and a kayak. We enjoyed snorkeling and taking the kayak out. The water is very swimmable and includes beautiful marine life to look at while snorkeling, and there are even books so you can see what sea creatures you saw in the water. In past experiences at other villas, I have experienced staff walking throughout the house at all hours of the night, and having to call staff to allow you in/out the villa, but the Sea Haven staff are there for specific hours to fulfill your needs. They will ask what time you want them to come in the morning, what time you want breakfast ready, and after dinner they leave the premises. You have your own set of keys to come and go as you please. Every question we had was answered with wonderful recommendations, there is even a taxi specific for the villa to take you anywhere you need to go. This by far was the best time I have had in Jamaica in the 12 times I have been there. Thank you to the wonderful staff and Ms. Erica Downer for the initial prep work that she put in to make this vacation a superb one.
Our family of 10 rented the Sea Haven property owned by Erica Downer in Discovery Bay, Ocho Rios, Jamaica & we all had an AMAZING, unforgettable time. The staff provided for us consisted of: Elva (Chef), Angela (Hostess), & Camoy (Hostess). These AMAZING ladies fed us 3 times each day, and to experience authentic Jamaican cuisine was something we all looked forward to prior to even getting there. We celebrated our Son’s 13th Birthday while there and the staff made it an AMAZING experience that will NEVER be forgotten. If you love seafood (as we do), we would provide Elva our request and the local fishermen would fulfill our order, so we thoroughly enjoyed fresh fish, crab, and lobster anytime we wanted it. A produce truck would come by daily and Elva would get whatever she needed for our meals which were an added bonus. The cuisine was so exquisite that we took pictures of EACH meal we ate while there. The property is well kept; both interior and exterior, with a spacious front yard and a back yard that leads right into the bay so be sure to either bring snorkeling gear or take advantage of the equipment provided on site. We saw several different species of fish, touchable sand sharks, a small manta ray, hermit crabs, and rock crabs. One day, there were hundreds of small jellyfish that blew into the bay where my Wife was unfortunately stung by one on her forearm (nothing major that some vinegar didn’t take care of ), but by the next day and the rest of our stay there, they never came back so just be aware prior to jumping in the water. Anywhere we went, Jr. (Driver) was wonderful at pointing out the significance of different landmarks and areas as we made our way to and from locations; he was a Historian as well as a highly reliable source of information, especially when it came to recommending things to do and places to go based on our wants. We enjoyed AMAZING sunsets and the occasional relaxing kayak ride around the bay and be sure to take plenty of sunscreen (the sun is very intense & also be prepared for the humidity) as well as some strong mosquito repellent as they get you anytime when outside! We stayed at Sea Haven 5/30/16 – 6/10/16 and to say the least, it was an AMAZING experience with an added bonus of meeting/seeing family that lived there! We definitely look forward to getting back to Ocho Rios and will keep this location as a mainstay anytime we consider going to Jamaica!!!
