Stringbender Cottage

A charming, spacious craftsman style one bedroom vacation house with unique architectural touches that give it a warm and comfortable feel. Rooms are modestly furnished antique/eclectic and are well lit with large windows that provide views of the surrounding forest.

Our turn-key cottage offers: one bedroom with queen bed, a futon couch for extra guests, a large kitchen, washer/dryer, cable TV, stereo CD player with radio/iPod hookup, Wi-Fi broadband internet, and a large, south-facing, private deck.

Stringbender Cottage is located just one mile east of Caspar and within ten minutes of the Mendocino village to the south and Fort Bragg to the north. Just a short walk from the property and you are in the beautiful Jackson State Forest, a haven for hikers and those who love to bike. Caspar and Jughandle beaches are very close by and the Caspar Community Center offers ongoing workshops and fun events. Information about various points of interest and activities along our Mendocino coastal communities will be provided for you as a part of our guest orientation when you arrive.

During our growing season guests will be provided with fresh flowers and organic produce that is harvested in our own garden. A relaxing, in-house massage can be arranged by your hosts.

Our property is surrounded by a natural forest setting full of birdsong and wild animals such as deer, raccoons, and squirrels. There are also farm animals on nearby properties. The property is home to several cats who wander freely and dogs that are in fenced yards. Our cottage is pet friendly for mature, well-groomed, house-trained dogs that must be kept on a leash when outdoors.
