Located in the heart of the Lake District, nestled between Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston and only minutes away by car from Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness. High Grassings country house stands in an elevated position set in fifteen acres of wooded fell side with breath taking mountain views. Our extensive grounds are inhabited by a variety of wild life including red deer, roe deer, red squirrel and a multitude of songbirds. We also have ponds and streams, which makes this one of the most tranquil settings in the Lake District but also within close proximity to Ambleside, Windermere, Bowness and Kendal for those who want to shop, take in the touristic attractions and perhaps enjoy the nightlife.
We are within walking distance to Hawkshead Village where there are plenty of shops and eateries. Also easy walking distance to the popular local Inn, Drunken Duck which offers a fine restaurant .Tarn Hows (once owned by Beatrix Potter) walk around the lake and take in the amazing views of the surrounding mountains Old Man of Coniston, Langdale Pikes and Fairfield to name a few is also on the doorstep and within walking distance. There are plenty of other walks you can do from the house so you don't have to use the car. The bedrooms at High Grassings range from standard double and family rooms located in the main house to the more spacious Barn (suite) with it's own private garden and access. All the bedrooms are comfortably and tastefully furnished providing a relaxing and cosy environment. Each room has it's own special view.
