The Lodge is a renovated Historical Church (circa 1923) that was originally moved from a mining community. It has been completely refurbished inside with natural NZ timbers that are now protected from felling... Kauri, Rimu etc. Much of the traditional decor has been restored, such as the stained glass windows. An upstairs loft has been added and the Church can now sleep 7+ people quite comfortably. Hidden away in a Ponga Grotto (NZ native fern) by a trickling mountain stream, a bubbling hot Spa is guaranteed to ease those city tensions at night by candlelight. Fresh-water crayfish can sometimes be spotted by the entrance to the Grotto.
