Our 2 Bedroom Thatched Cottage is available to rent for holidays. Located on the outskirts of the village of Charlton Mackrell in the heart of South Somerset. The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms and has a host of desirable features including Inglenook fireplace with bread oven and modern wood burning stove, original flag stone flooring and exposed beams plus has the modern luxuries of full central heating and double glazing. Our recently modernised and refurbished thatched cottage is situated in a convenient location for relaxing or enjoying the many and varied attractions that this part of the country has to offer. The cottage is situated on the outskirts of Charlton Mackrell, a village some 3 miles from Somerton, 5 miles from Ilchester and 7 miles from Glastonbury. It is easy to reach by car as it is only 2 miles from the Junction of the A303 (London to Exeter road) and the A37 (Bristol to Dorchester).
Tuckers Batch is thought to be some 200 years old and is in the centre of a terrace of three. There is full central heating and double glazing. The lounge has the original flag stone floor and an Inglenook fireplace complete with old bread oven and is fitted with a modern wood burning stove for those cosy winter evenings. There is a colour TV with DVD player, Radio/CD player with iPod dock and free Internet connection provided. The kitchen has country style wooden cupboards and is equipped with a fridge, electric cooker, electric coffee maker, microwave, washing machine, mini dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board and a full range of kitchen utensils. There are two Sofas, a dining table and chairs in the lounge. The bathroom has a bath with mains pressure shower. Upstairs has fitted carpets throughout, the main bedroom has a double bed and there are two standard single beds in the other bedroom. Towels and all normal bed linen are supplied. To the rear of the cottage is a patio and terraced border with patio furniture. Smoking is not allowed in or near the cottage as it is a condition of our insurers due to the thatched roof. The Cottage looks out over farmland towards Lytes Cary (1 mile) where there is one of several National Trust properties in the area, the next closest being Montacute and Barrington Court. Outdoor activities in the area include horse riding and fishing. There are several museums in the area ranging from cars and aircraft to cricket and rural life. The historic cities of Bath and Wells are within easy reach as are Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole , Stourhead and Longleat House and Safari Park. The South coast at Lyme Regis can be reached in about 45 minutes as can the North Somerset coast at Burnham or Weston-super-Mare.
