Shady Spring Farm is a working cattle farm nestled in the picturesque valley known as the Great Cove, Fulton County, South Central Pennsylvania. Most of its 130 acres are dedicated to raising a herd of about 200 head of Black Angus and Black Baldy beef cattle. The farm itself has been in our family for 5 generations, having initially been purchased by Tony’s maternal great-great uncle in 1922.
We purchased the farm in 2004 from Tony’s grandfather and have spent the last several years preserving and rehabilitating the farm’s numerous houses and out buildings. Our focus during these years has been the rehabilitation of the farm’s frame farmhouse. This residence has been called the “Tenant House” for as long as anyone in the family can remember and has been home to various resident families dating back to the 1880s. Currently, we are offering the Tenant House for nightly, weekly, or monthly usage.
