The Cottonwood Canyons in Salt Lake City have been said to have the “Best Snow on Earth.” Everybody that skis has heard of Alta & Snowbird, but little is ever talked about Solitude, and many would like to keep it that way. Solitude again ranked in the top 10 for best snow by Ski Magazine. The skiing here is incredible with runs to suit every skill level. Some of the steep groomers here a blast. (Dare to take a run down Challenger?). Honeycomb Canyon will keep anyone entertained for days with a 3.5 mile run that offers moguls, steeps, tree runs, nice traversing opportunities, and of course it seems like you have it to yourself. You can pound the Eagle Express Quad over and over again for some great runs or hit Powderhorn 2 and choose your steep adventure.
At Solitude you can enjoy the same light powder that is raved about year after year in every ski magazine while enjoying the peace and solitude that you won’t find at Alta and Snowbird. Solitude is just that solitude. You’ll rarely find a lift line here but you will find the technology of many high speed quads. After a day of skiing you can walk a hundred yards and be back to the 759 sq foot condo. You also have access to Club Solitude, hot tubs, a year-round heated pool, game rooms, saunas, ice skating, and even a couple of posh restaurants.
Inside the condo: I just bought the condo in October 2010. So you’ll enjoy brand new furniture throughout. There is also a cozy fireplace in the living room, along with two full size sofa beds. Also an extra den with a bunkbed, and a master bedroom with an ultra comfy pillow top mattress and a separate television. In the living room we have a 42” High Def TV. Both TV\'s are equipped with a 100+ channel DirecTV package with 8 HBO channels. You can also enjoy a kitchen full with refrigerator, coffee maker, pans, and all dishes. Sleeps 4-6. No pets. No smoking.
A lot of properties are advertised as lodging for skiing, but not very many are ski in-ski out. Having the ability to ski in and ski out makes a skiing trip so much more enjoyable. If you’re tired you can go rest and pick up back at the slopes a little while later. Or if you have kids and they get tired much sooner than you do or if the snow is coming down pounding, the kids will usually want to go in, but that is when the skiing is the best. Just give them the key and let them go relax while you finish up your day.
Solitude is located 40 minutes from Salt Lake City Airport, 3 minutes from Brighton Ski Resort, 25 minutes from Alta and Snowbird resorts, and about 45 minutes from Park City, The Canyons, and Deer Valley.
