The original barn of The 1828 House is now referred to as The Lodge. Rustic and spacious, this living room was once a horse barn, converted into a skiing lodge over 50 years ago. A centrally located fireplace hearth, surrounded on three sides by comfortable couches, provides a warm and cozy atmosphere.
A lodge style kitchen with an antique farm table (seats 8-10) completes this open great room, as do large windows with mountainside views. A flat screen TV, cable, DVD and stereo system as well as numerous board games and an official poker playing table top are available. A staircase leads to five upstairs bedrooms.
Various sleeping arrangements are available upstairs in the lodge. Three rooms have double beds with down comforters. Another room has two specially built handmade bunk beds, with a double on the bottom and a single on the top. Another room has two bunk beds suited for children. The rooms are the classic ski lodge type, small, but with dressers, hooks and mirrors.
There are two bathrooms with stall showers and toilets located upstairs. An open wash area with two sinks is located in the hallway, which enables one to brush their teeth when the bathrooms are in use. A very large official Okemo Mountain Ski Slope map hangs on the wall and was acquired from the ski resort when a new one was installed. The hallway is painted white pine with a sky blue ceiling with white clouds, hand painted by local artists.
