Game Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuaries was formed in 1977 its status was changed as a wildlife sanctuary 24 August 2000 and it is distinguished from other wildlife reserves in its management. Indeed, is managed by a nonprofit corporation, the Territory Popular Chénier inc., Composed of representatives of associations for hunting and fishing, municipal councils of neighboring villages and corporate exploitation of resources. Covering an area of â��â��273 sq km, the territory of the wildlife sanctuary Wildlife Sanctuaries has the highest concentration of lakes with high potential for wildlife and fisheries on the south shore of St. Lawrence. Is also a region where one finds one of the biggest devastation of white-tailed deer in eastern Quebec. Since its inception, much energy was invested in the reserve Duchénier to make accessible population in this area by recreational activities such as fishing, hunting and the outdoors, but still facing the conservation of natural potential and wildlife planning. Since 2000, important work has been done to improve housing in the area. This work will continue in the coming years.
