Description

Kinara Country Homestay is a beautiful private Homestay just 12 minutes north of Taupo. Come and join us!

Meet your hosts Graeme & Heather Anderson. Graeme is a Kiwi and Heather is a Scot, also meet Poppy the toy poodle, Jack the Cocker Spaniel and Belle, all part of the Team here at Kinara, who want your stay here to be a memorable one.

How do you fancy waking up in the morning and looking out over some lovely lush green fields, dotted with trees, deer and other pastoral animals? Or looking just a little way into the distance and seeing beautiful views of Lake Taupo, Mount Tauhara (our Sleeping Lady), the Kaimanawa Ranges and our four volcanoes at the Southern end of the lake?

We would like to offer you our special blend of Kiwi and Scots hospitality. We have three comfortable rooms, each with their own private facilities. Two having Queen size beds and ensuite, one with 2 single beds and private facilities. We are sure that you will find your stay here with us in our beautiful home not only peaceful and comfortable, but that you receive value for money with our quality and service.

The home is in a picturesque country setting, with a touch of the Mediterranean. It has young, but beautiful gardens to wander through or to sit and relax in, and some areas we are still in the process of developing for the enjoyment of both our guests and ourselves. Hopefully you, as our guests, will enjoy your visit with us so much; that you will return time and time again and in doing so will see the property evolve.

We welcome tourists from all over the world and of course from New Zealand. We cater principally for those who would like to experience the quiet country life, and leave the stresses of the large cities behind. If you have a cycle, bring it along and travel on some of the many side roads into Taupo. Many use our home as a base for the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge Race, the New Zealand Iron Man Competition and the latest addition to Taupo - the A1GP, held at the new Taupo Race Track which is only a short 6 minute drive away with easy direct access to the venue.

Mountain ViewAt Kinara, you will be welcomed as a friend, with coffee or tea on arrival and morning and afternoon tea with muffins or cake is complimentary, this is our opportunity to get to know you and to tell you a bit about Taupo New Zealand and for you to tell us about yourselves and your country.

Graeme’s breakfasts are just lovely! You can have Orange juice, tea, fresh brewed coffee, and a selection of breakfast cereals, fruit and toast. Followed by, if you wish, bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomatoes. We shouldn’t think you would need to eat again much before dinner.

Should you require an evening meal we are able to provide one at reasonable cost, provided we are given notice at the time of booking. Your hosts will be joining you at the table. During summer months we usually have a 2 course BBQ (weather allowing), instead of the usual sit down at table meal.
