Red Deer River Ranches is an authentic dude ranch experience in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. We raise commercial Red Angus cattle on the homeplace as well utilizing public lease land and forest reserve grazing allotment land. Our ranch encompasses 50,000 acres of connected land and represents what the west is all about-cattle, horses, wide-open spaces for hard honest work and room to play in, and the comfort and cozy feeling of well built log cabins for your family to come back to.
Many people have compared the experience here to City Slickers, but a real dude rancher is so much more authentic and meaningful than that. Once you have convinced us and yourself that you are an accomplished rider, you can participate in cattle drives and become a part of the everyday life of what happens on dude ranches. There are many trails to explore here at the main ranch, or we can take you on a day trip to the Rocky Mountains and ride in the Ya Ha Tinda to Hidden Falls, Eagle Lake, Scalp Creek Trail, the Outpost and many other mountain trails. Perhaps you would like to have another family memory to last a lifetime, like white water rafting on the Red Deer River with lots of rapids and ledges like, Jimbo's Staircase, The Nationals, Shark's Fin, or The Double Ledge. Use the time back at the ranch in your log cabin and the big yard to achieve real quality time with your family. Have a game of horseshoes or bocce ball on the big lawn, read a book on the front deck, listen to a record or audio theatre play together as a family, or sit in the outdoor hot tub at night and watch the star show as only the Creator could make it. And if golf is your game, we have the Sundre Golf Club, Coyote Creek, and Forest Heights, all 18 hole courses in the Sundre area, just 30 minutes to the east of us. And dude, if you like fishing, then you need to know that we have literally dozens of miles of river and creek access right from the main ranch where you can catch Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Bull Trout, and Mountain Whitefish. Come experience the traditional, old fashioned, family values that the Canadian frontier was established with. That is what staying at a guest and dude ranch is all about.
