The "Little Cabin" at Heartwood (a family homestead) is nestled among tall pines on 215 acres of secluded meadows & woodlands - completely surrounded by majestic mountains including a view of the famous "Park Mountains". The original 40 acres of what is now known as "Heartwood" was purchased by Joe Delory in 1933 for the sum of $1.00 per acre. A carpenter by trade, Joe built the log cabin now referred to as Heartwood's "Little Cabin". Joe Rogers, a contractor-carpenter by trade, purchased the property in 1974 - fulfilling a lifelong dream to live in Montana. The acreage by that time had increased to 80 acres. As surrounding acreage became available it was purchased and the total now stands at 215. In the early 1980's, the "Little Cabin" was renovated, a new log home was constructed and the property officially became known as "Heartwood". Joe and Linda (a former teacher) opened the cabin to guests in July of `93. The first question everyone asks is "How did you find this place?" - well, that's a story to share when you visit!
