Welcome to The Moby Dick Hotel and Oyster Farm located on Willapa Bay and the Long Beach Peninsula. The Moby Dick has a long history of serving the public as a hostelry and restaurant. Originally built in 1929-30, the buildings and furnishings have been restored in the spirit of the 30’s with an eclectic, bohemian charm offering a unique and comfortable atmosphere. Nine rooms, all with their own stylishly funky personality, come packaged with a full breakfast. Spacious public rooms include two living rooms and a small lounge upstairs, complemented by a classic fireplace - the perfect spot to curl up with a good book selected from our fine collection of literature. A piano from the 40’s and a video collection add to the possibilities.
To begin your step back into a quieter time, try the Japanese style sauna. In the trees at the edge of the bay, it provides both views of the beautiful natural surroundings and the perfect place to sweat the stress away. As you venture outdoors, you will find a number of paths that ramble through the woods, out to the bay, and through our organic vegetable, herb, and flower gardens. Quiet seating areas are nestled throughout the spacious property. Looking for meeting space, an office retreat, workshop or class space? Do it in the round! Our brand new yurt accommodates up to 30 people with heated bamboo floor, skylight, and circular space as the perfect place for discussions, meditations, or transcending the everyday square options.
Top all of this off with a 4-star restaurant celebrating local and seasonal food in the menu for special events, weddings, small groups and retreats. You’ll discover what all of our guests already know… Moby Dick is the best kept secret on the Peninsula ! Area attractions include the historic Lewis & Clark Trail featuring museums, parks, and forts. Our beautiful natural surroundings encourage birding, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, cycling… as well as whale watching, mushroom hunting and a favorite – kiting. The World Kite Museum is located nearby and hosts three kite festivals a year.
