DOWNSTAIRS there is the family kitchen area, and a wetroom next to the sunny twin bedroom. The whole ground-floor area is wheelchair friendly, and is tiled throughout to create a relaxing sense of space and light. There is a TV in the downstairs bedroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with integral fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, electric cooker with ceramic hob, and a microwave. UPSTAIRS there is a cosy sitting-room with a wood-burning stove for those who enjoy a real fire. You will love the view from the windows - looking out across our 30 acre field to the hills beyond.
There is a colour TV and a DVD/video player. In the bookcase, you will find a wide range of reading material, with games and jigsaws. There is also lots of tourist information, with details of local walks, and where to find fishing permits for further afield.
The tiled bathroom has a bath and shower. There is a spacious bedroom with a double bed, and a single bedroom. A hair-drier is provided. All rooms are tastefully furnished.
Since we live next door to the cottage, we are usually available to recommend activities or places to suit your individual needs. You will find that the cottage is fully equipped for your holiday. We don't allow any smoking in the cottage. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept under good control at all times, and must not be left alone in the cottage at any time.
Things to do:
Damside lies half a mile north of the small village of Romanno Bridge, and three miles from the picturesque and historic village of West Linton. Peebles and Penicuik are each 10 miles distant, with Edinburgh city centre a pleasant 30 minutes by car. It is also possible to catch a bus into Edinburgh from outside the cottage.
There are several restaurants and public houses in the area, the nearest being in West Linton, and a good selection of supermarkets. The nearest store is in West Linton.
Romanno Bridge is ideally placed for visiting the attractions of Edinburgh and the Central Belt, and for exploring the beautiful Borders countryside. There is easy access to the Edinburgh Bypass for visiting other areas in Scotland.
There are lots of local activities for all ages - golf and tennis in West Linton, a children's Activity Camp nearby which can be booked on a daily basis, lovely country walks (West Linton has twice hosted the Borders Walking Festival and Peebles is holding it in 2010), mountain biking at Glentress, skiing at Hillend, rock-climbing at Ratho. Da Vinci Code fans can visit Rosslyn Chapel.
For those interested in cycling, our local tourist group has identified various cycling routes in the area, and cycles can be stored in our shed.
Or stay at home to enjoy a walk across the field for some free fishing on our half-mile stretch of river.
