Description
4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 decks, and a charming garden .... sleeps 8-10 people.
Located about half way between New York and Boston, in the heart of Stonington Village.
Erected circa 1840, the three-story building has been renovated to fit modern standards. The house feels crisp and new yet retains its original, gracious character, including gorgeous wide plank pine floors and double hung windows.
The furnishings are upscale and the beds are luxurious. When the house was renovated, the owner\'s took optimal advantage of the beautiful ocean views and choose an upside-down floor plan (living room, kitchen, and dining room are on the third floor). Every day the living room comes to a standstill when the sun, settling upon the water, fills it with magnificent colors.
If you haven\'t visited Stonington Village, you\'re in for a treat. Nestled on a small peninsula, the village had a thriving fishing industry in the 1800\'s; hence it boasts many grand old homes. Now, an avid sailing community, and home of Connecticut\'s last surviving commercial fishing fleet, Stonington has the perfect balance of both year rounders and summer vacationers.
Walking distance to Dubois beach, 6 popular restaurants, 2 sandwich shops, the lighthouse, and Stonington\'s wonderful shops (not just antiques anymore).
