The original one room cabin (now the living room) is approximately 200 years old. Several years later, the bedrooms-upstairs and downstairs-were built with hand hewn wormy chestnut logs.
The kitchen and den were added around the 1930?s.
We have had many visitors who have known this cabin over the years and have added to our archives of stories.
All of the wrought iron in the cabin and the main house were done by Daniel Boone IV who was contracted to do the work in approximately 1930.
When you come to visit, you can read the entire history of the cabin and its occupants.
Muriel Earley Sheppard, the author of the book ?Cabins in the Laurel? lived in this cabin while writing her book about the Bakersville and Spruce Pine area.
The cabin has three bedrooms, one full bath, living room and den with fireplaces. Fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Linens furnished. All you need is yourself and your food and drink. Sleeps 6 comfortably.
