Beehive Cottage is a beautiful 3 Storey mill cottage, and is situated in a peaceful backwater close to Cressbrook mill in the dramatic Monsal Dale. The cottage itself has some period features, and includes a wood burning stove for cosy nights in this lovely rural setting. There is also a south facing patio with garden furniture, where you can sit and enjoy relaxing to the sound of the river running through water-cum-jolly, and a small grassed garden below. The renowned Monsal Head pub sits at the top of the dale offering a roaring open fire and good food in a converted stable setting. There are spectacular views from there down Monsal Dale, and the surrounding area offers ample opportunity for walking,running, biking,climbing or visiting such historical places as Eyam,Bakewell,Chatsworth,and Haddon Hall, to name but a few. The Peak District is a wonderful national park, offering a wealth of opportunities to explore and enjoy beautiful countryside for both old and young alike.
GENERAL: The Cottage consists of a Kitchen, Living Room, bathroom, Double Bedroom, Twin bedroom , Attic with 3 single beds , to sleep 6-7 people. There is on-site parking for one vehicle, with ample parking nearby for additional vehicles.
KITCHEN: The kitchen has a large fridge freezer, a conventional cooker, a large microwave cooker, a washing machine, a toaster, coffee maker, a dining table with 6 chairs and ample crockery/utensils.
LIVING ROOM: The living room has a 3 person sofa, a 2 person sofa and a single chair. There is a large coffee table. It has a television with Sky(basic) video and DVD player. It is heated by a wood burning stove, with ancillary electric storage and electric convector heater for instant heat.
SLEEPING: The cottage very comfortably sleeps 6 adults although there is a 7th bed, but no proper dining chair or soft living room seating to accommodate a 7th person (there are collapsible chairs under the stairs, a pouf in the living room and ample crockery/utensils however). We NO LONGER provide a baby travel cot or high chair due to difficulties in cleaning and other health and safety issues. If you need to sleep more people please ask us about our under the eaves space.
BATHROOM: There is a single bathroom/toilet with bath and a new (Jan 2009) electric shower.
SPORTS: The cottage has a large, substantial, wooden, lockable bike shed, which would hold bikes, canoes and other sports equipment. This may be used at the owners risk. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THIS PLEASE TELL US AND BRING A PADLOCK.Also, please ensure that any equipment is suitably insured. We have a de-humidifier in a large under stair cupboard to facilitate the drying of sports gear.
We require a £100 deposit cheque which will not be cashed unless there is damage or the cottage has not been left as it was found. If we need to get cleaners in then we will charge at their rate from the deposit cheque. Minor accidental damage will not be charged for, but we would appreciate you telling us that it has occured so that we can keep on top of replacement and renewals.
The full amount should be paid 4 weeks prior to the let period and once paid is not refundable. The deposit and prior payment requirements will not apply as stated above to those who wish to book with short notice, where the agreement will be tailored to what is sensible and reasonable in the individual circumstance. Low Season: £200/week.
Mid Season: £300/week.
High Season: £450/week.
