Description

Our hand built log and stone home is in central Roaring Fork Valley, a little closer to Aspen than Glenwood Springs. We have stunning views of the Rocky Mountains, and a delightful house and yard from which to enjoy the views. Our home has a cozy, rustic feel, and there are incredible opportunities for recreation in the area.  Amenities include a wood stove, a porch with hammocks, a fire pit in the front yard, a wood burning sauna in the back, a community swimming pool and tennis court in the summer, and cross country skiing, hiking or biking right from the door.

We have a rural feel, with preserved open space to the north, east and south. We're on three acres, but it feels much larger because of the open space in three directions. We're perched three miles above the highway (so there's easy access to shopping and local communities, with a great bus system connecting the valley), with inspiring views of the mountains. Wildlife abounds, with sightings of deer, fox, coyote, elk and many birds. The weather is often delightful, with warm (not hot) summers and snowy winters -- definitely distinct seasons. We're about a half hour from the ski slopes of Aspen or the hot springs and other attractions of Glenwood Springs.

The sauna is available all year, and after heating up you can jump in the snow in the winter, or in a small stream in the summer.  The community pool and hot tub (Memorial Day - mid-September) are little used, so often it's like a private pool.  You can enjoy the cultural and recreational activities of the valley, and then relax with the amenities in and around our home.

Out our door:  trails for hiking, biking and cross country skiing;  gardens; hammocks and a multi person swing; wood burning sauna (and a little creek in the summer to jump in when you're steamy); community swimming pool, hot tub, play ground and tennis courts in the summer within walking distance; fire pit area in the front yard; lots of wildlife.

At the bottom of the hill:  (a three mile drive)  grocery shopping, movie theater, restaurants, a bus system that will take you up or down the valley, antique and craft shops.

Aspen: (a half hour drive)  alpine skiing, X-games, many festivals (food & wine, classical music, ideas, physics institute, hot air balloon, etc), museums, groomed cross country ski trails, golf, theater, all kinds of music, white water rafting, fishing, incredible hikes and bikes, Maroon Bells, internationally renowned speakers, etc

Glenwood Springs: (a half hour drive) world's largest hot springs pool, white water rafting, Fairy Caves and amusement park, Yampa Vapor Caves, hiking and biking, fishing, golf, Ski Sunlight.

Other attractions in the valley: fly fishing on the Frying Pan River, ghost towns, the art and craft village of Redstone, hiking in the Wilderness Areas, mountain biking, an Aspen to Glenwood bike path, free concerts most nights of the summer.

The bedrooms are laid out as follows:

Master bedroom has a queen bed and a small outside deck, with attached bathroom (and have we mentioned the views?)

Bedroom 2 has a double bed and a tree fort (yes, you have to climb a tree) with a twin mattress in it.  Children should probably be at least 5 or 6 to use this bed. This shares a bathroom with bedroom 3, and the bathroom is across a hall / balcony

Bedroom 3 has a queen bed and a sleeping loft with 2 twin mattresses, and is accessed by a ladder.

Bedroom 4 is our guest room / study.  It is downstairs, and uses the downstairs bathroom.  It has a queen fold out couch / bed -- but it's high quality (made by American Furniture with a three platform design instead of the metal bars) and is just as comfortable as the other beds.  This room also has a large flatscreen TV for movies and Netflix, but we don't get TV stations.

The cabin and property were great. Had a beautiful view for pictures but unfortunately we had clouds and rain during our stay. There was plenty of room and certainly would go back to this place again!

Great stay

Cool place with lots of character

Beautiful house with gorgeous views

The house accomodated 9 people. Kids\' beds could be a little bigger, but the rest was perfect. House with a lot of memorabilia, books, pictures and art pieces. This was a nice place to spend our evenings after all day skiing and unforgetable mornings with amazing views of the mountains. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Absolutely beautiful house and views

This truly stunning house offers cozy amenities and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Charming

This cabin had it all and is absolutely charming. From the fire pit, the fire place, the piano, and the family of deer who seemed to have taken up residency in the yard, we felt like we were in a bit of heaven. The view is exquisite. Come with all of your groceries and needs because you will not want to leave. Peter is responsive and helpful and this was a delightful experience. I hope to return soon.
