The Meiklejohn House was built in the 1870’s as a stately Victorian home by Alexander Meiklejohn who became the first mayor of Harriston. It has many unique features including a wall which recesses into the ceiling to make the parlour into one large room. There are eight fireplaces in the house, four of which are made of Italian marble.
Stayed here in November 2009 and loved it! The house is beautiful and spacious, and the owners did everything to make us feel welcome. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast the next morning was expansive and delicious. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to anyone!
anyone should or needs to visit this awesome bed and breakfast. we were there for a family dinner get together and the food and service was wonderful, and to top this up..is that children are welcome and toys were provided to keep them entertained....each and everyone was very impressed!
Our overnight stay at Meiklejohn House was such a pleasure. The house is just as it appears on the website and our hosts get top marks for their hospitality. The breakfast was exceptional and enough to last almost to supper. We highly recommend this B&B and would stay there again in the future should an occassion arise in that area.
